I’d been waiting for NY Sec State to put up his combined congressional filings, and he finally did the other day. That allows us to total up the filings nationwide. It looks like Republicans have left 49 Dem seats unchallenged this cycle if I did the math right. They managed to worsen their previous count of 46 from 2006. Here’s the Dem seats they walked away from this cycle for the record:
AL-07
AR-01,2,4
CA-18,28,30,31,32,37,38
CO-03
FL-03,17,20
GA-04,5
IL-02,4,5,7,17
LA-03
MA-02,3,4,5,7,8,9,10
MI-14
MO-01
NJ-10
NY-06,9
OR-04
PA-12,14
TN-06,8,9
TX-09,16
VA-03,9
VT-01
WI-04
WV-01
Let’s give Tom Cole a big round of applause for now OFFICIALLY becoming the worst NRCC chair recruiter in the last several decades.
I can understand the Republican not contesting Vermont, or Hollywood, or even half of Queens, but…
None of the Democratic seats in AR?
Salazar’s lean-Republican seat?
Murtha’s seat that they targeted last time?
The GOP is running Wayne Wolf, a county commissioner or somesuch. He was briefly running for Senate, but party elders convinced him to take on Salazar instead.
The AR seats, CO-03, LA-03, PA-12, the TN districtsand WV-01 are districts you’d think they could at least find a challenger.
Especially amazing how they’ve given up on Melancon so soon.
Any idea how many republicans are unopposed?
dcpoliticalreport.com shows Rs in PA12, CO3, IL2, IL4, IL5, MA4, MA7… some of his candidates may have been disqualified but its worth doublechecking.
Earl Blumeanuer, who represents OR-3, actually has an opponent who lives in OR-4, but hates Earl for some reason. Even though OR-4 is definitely leans to likely D and OR-3 is probably one of the top 10 safest D districts in the country…
running in PA-12: William Russell. Michelle Malkin was actually touting his fundraising abilities… while not mentioning that he’s another one of those BMW Direct scam candidates.
